David and I after we recorded episode 1 of our pod “Meine erste Million”, checkout the mic, it has an LED like a Fast and the Furious car.
Two ideas
“Talk is often a substitute for action”, I cannot get that line out of my head (Peter Thiel on the Joe Rogan podcast)
Here is a fun exercise you can use to come up with stories in your life that you might want to write about. It’s from Matthew Dicks who’s won 59 Moth StorySLAMs, so he knows a thing or two about story telling.
The exercise is called “First Last Best Worst”. You write out a table, the column headers are “First”, “Last”, “Best” and “Worst” and as rows you add categories like kiss, car, book, etc.. Then you start with row one, for example who gave you your first kiss, your last kiss, the best kiss and the worst kiss and so on. It’s fun.
At the end of it you go through the table and add S (potential story) and A (potential anecdote) to the cells that resonate. And then just choose one and write the story out.
This way you never run out of ideas on what to write about.
Three cool links
“Meine erste Million” our new pod, it’s in German. Go check it out and let me know what you think
Jeff Bezos on making decisions based on intuition, heart and taste rather than analysis. I can surely use a spoon of that.
“Writing, Briefly” by Paul Graham “publish stuff online, because an audience makes you write more, and thus generate more ideas;”
Personal note
That’s it for today.
Now do me a favour… tell me what you think!
I wrote it. You read it. How was it?
P.S. - if you wanna go read this on a rad website (seriously) or send to a friend, here’s the link: check it out!
